=== Florida Marlins Team Report - May 23 === (My Sportsbook) - The Florida Marlins will travel to the Great American Ball Park to face the Cincinnati Reds in a three-game set, and to close out a horrible 12-game road trip in which they have compiled a 2-7 record to this point. The Marlins have lost six straight for the second time in the month of May. Florida will send 24-year-old righthander Brad Penny to the mound this evening. Penny is winless (0-2) over his last six starts, including a loss to Los Angeles last week. The twirler was outpitched by Hideo Nomo despite only giving up five hits and two runs over six innings. Penny struck out five and walked two in the defeat. Penny has struggled a bit against the Reds in his career, tallying an 0-2 record with a 4.82 ERA in three outings. The road has not been kind to Penny this season, as he is just 1-3 with a 4.80 ERA in five games. The Marlins lead the Majors in Stolen Bases with 70 bag swipes. Luis Castillo's nine-game hitting streak was snapped in last night's 8-2 loss to the Expos. In that contest Juan Encarnacion and Alex Gonzalez each drove in a run for the Marlins, who have lost six straight games and 14 of their last 18 contests. Michael Tejera (0-3) absorbed the loss after he was torched for seven runs on nine hits in only four innings, while striking out four and walking three.
