Cincinnati, OH (My Sportsbook) - One day after allowing nine earned runs and surrendering a career-high 11 hits in a 9-4 loss to the Atlanta Braves, Cincinnati Reds pitcher Ryan Dempster was placed on the 15-day disabled list with an inflamed nerve in the right side of his neck. The Reds' righthander has struggled with the injury since spring training, and missed a May 9 start because of the discomfort. He has pitched poorly in his two starts since, yielding 13 earned runs in 11 innings. Dempster is 1-4 overall with a 7.62 ERA. Infielder Rainer Olmedo was called up from the Double-A Chattanooga Lookouts in the corresponding roster move. Olmedo will make his major league debut after batting .299 with two home runs and 12 RBI in 45 games for Chattanooga.
