Phoenix, AZ (My Sportsbook) - The San Diego Padres have placed outfielder Mark Kotsay on the 15-day disabled list with a strained lower back. The move is retroactive to May 19. The 27-year-old is batting .243 with one homer and six RBI in 36 games this season. To fill Kotsay's roster spot, the Padres recalled outfielder Jason Bay from Triple-A Portland In other moves, San Diego activated catcher Gary Bennett from the 15-day disabled list. He had missed 32 games after suffering sprained right knee on April 16 at Los Angeles. Bennett was hitting .282 with five RBI in 12 games before the injury. San Diego optioned catcher Michael Rivera to Portland to make room for Bennett. Rivera hit .170 with a home run and two RBI in 19 games for the Padres.
