New York, NY (My Sportsbook) -
Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Terrell Owens was fined $35,000, but not suspended by the NFL for spitting in the face of
Atlanta Falcons cornerback D'Angelo Hall in Saturday night's game.
After the game Owens admitted to the NFL Network that he spit on the mouthy defender. He said, "I got frustrated and I apologize for that. It was a situation where he kept bugging me and getting in my face."
The incident, which was not caught on camera, took place after Hall shoved Owens out of bounds after a reception in the 38-28 Dallas victory.
If he had been caught by an official Owens would have been ejected from the game.
Owens, who has 77 catches for 1,040 yards and 11 touchdowns, has had a tumultuous first season in Dallas.
He leads the league with 15 dropped passes, was reportedly fined $9,500 by the Cowboys for missing a team meeting and has also been caught sleeping through team meetings.
Owens also broke his right ring finger in the second game of the season, which was followed by a reported attempted suicide.
However, Owens said at the time that his emergency trip to the hospital came as the result of an allergic reaction to a mix of pain medication and supplements.
Owens also missed most of training camp and the preseason with a hamstring injury, allowing him to suit up for only 12 practices.
After returning to the field on August 16, Owens took part in five practice sessions before aggravating the injury due to what he deemed too many repetitions.
