Bronx, NY (My Sportsbook) - New York Yankees outfielder Bernie Williams has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a left knee injury. Williams has a sprained left knee and a torn medial meniscus. Surgery has been recommended, but the centerfielder has not decided what course of action he will take. He has been bothered by the knee for about a week and is in the midst of an 0-for-21 slump. He is hitting .286 with seven homers and 31 runs batted in over 46 games this season. The 34-year-old Williams has hit .300 or better in eight straight seasons, the longest active run in the majors and second in Yankee history behind the 12 straight seasons by Lou Gehrig. Juan Rivera, recalled from Triple-A Columbus to fill the roster spot, started in left field Friday against Toronto. Rivera went 1-for-4 for the Yankees in a 6-2 loss.
