=== New York Mets Team Report - May 24 === (My Sportsbook) - Tom Glavine returns to Atlanta on Saturday to face his former team for the first time, as the New York Mets battle the Braves in what should be an emotional affair at Turner Field. Glavine spent his first 16 seasons in a Braves uniform, posting a 242-143 record and claiming two NL Cy Young Awards. The lefthander was also named MVP of the 1995 World Series, when he led Atlanta past the Cleveland Indians. During this past offseason, the free-agent Glavine became involved in a bidding war between a few clubs and eventually landed in New York after inking a three-year deal worth $35 million. Glavine, 37, is 5-3 with a 3.41 ERA so far in his first season with the Mets. He earned the win against the Giants in his last outing Sunday, allowing just one run on six hits in 8 1/3 innings. He walked one and struck out four. Jeromy Burnitz came off the disabled list and cracked a grand slam in the sixth inning as the Mets downed the Braves by a 6-5 score in the series opener on Friday. It would take Burnitz's defensive replacement to save the game, however, as Tsuyoshi Shinjo, who entered the contest in the bottom of the eighth, gunned out Chipper Jones at the plate in the ninth. Jones was trying to score the tying run from second base on a single off the bat of Julio Franco with two outs. Roger Cedeno went 2-for-3 with a run scored and Vance Wilson posted a two-hit game for New York, which has won five of its last six games. Mets starter Steve Trachsel (3-2) posted the win after allowing four runs in 5 2/3 innings. Armando Benitez tossed the ninth to pick up his 14th save.
