=== Detroit Tigers Team Report - May 24 === (My Sportsbook) - The Detroit Tigers try to make it three straight wins tonight in the second of a three-game set against the Chicago White Sox at U.S. Cellular Field. On Friday, Dmitri Young drove in the go-ahead run with a double in the top of the eighth and Mike Maroth posted his first win of the year as the Tigers downed the White Sox, 3-2, in the opener. Maroth (1-9) had started the season with losses in his first nine decisions, but turned in a strong outing to end his losing streak. The 25-year-old lefthander allowed two runs on just three hits, while striking out three and walking two in seven innings of work. Gary Knotts will head to the mound for the Tigers this evening. In his last outing, Knotts survived only 4 1/3 innings against the Indians at Jacobs Field, allowing five runs on seven hits on Monday. However, Knotts did not record a decision in the contest. Knotts' last decision was his first victory of the year on May 7th. In that outing, the 26-year-old allowed four runs on six hits in five innings against the Orioles at Camden Yards. Knotts is 0-1 in two starts against the White Sox in his career, posting an ERA of 2.19. Detroit has hit fewer home runs (32) than any team in baseball this season. The Tigers have scored just 138 runs total this year.
