=== Texas Rangers Team Report - May 24 === (My Sportsbook) - The Texas Rangers try for their eighth straight win tonight in the second of a three-game set against the Baltimore Orioles at The Ballpark in Arlington. On Friday, Rafael Palmeiro finished with two hits, including a home run, and drove in three to lead Texas to a 5-3 win over Baltimore in the opener of the series. Michael Young posted three hits and Hank Blalock added two for the Rangers. Ismael Valdes permitted three runs and 10 hits in six innings to earn the victory for Texas. Valdez (4-2) struck out one and didn't issue a walk. Ugueth Urbina worked a scoreless ninth for his 16th save. The Rangers will send 29-year-old John Thomson to the mound this evening. In his last outing, Thomson pitched beautifully, allowing one run on three hits while striking out nine in a complete-game victory against the Yankees at Yankee Stadium last Sunday. The victory his first since April 29th, when the righthander allowing four runs on seven hits in five innings against the Blue Jays at SkyDome. This is the first career appearance that Thomson will make against the Orioles. |
