=== San Diego Padres Team Report - May 24 === (My Sportsbook) - The San Diego Padres should have a tough time trying to halt their major-league high nine-game losing streak Saturday when they face Curt Schilling and the Arizona Diamondbacks at Bank One Ballpark. Brian Lawrence draws the unenviable task of opposing Schilling on Saturday. Lawrence is winless in his last seven starts (0-5), with his last victory coming way back on April 11 against Colorado. In his most recent outing, the righthander suffered the loss against Atlanta Sunday, permitting six runs on 11 hits in seven frames. He walked one and struck out two. Lawrence is 1-1 with a 3.34 ERA in five career starts against Arizona. In the opener of the four-game set on Friday, Danny Bautista snapped an eighth-inning tie with a three-run home run and drove in four runs to lift the Diamondbacks to a 5-3 win over the Padres. Jason Bay, making his major league debut after being called up Friday to replace the injured Mark Kotsay, homered in the ninth for his first major league hit. However, it was not enough to prevent the Padres from losing for the 22nd time in their last 25 games. Mike Matthews (1-2) took the loss for the Padres, giving up three runs on two hits and a pair of walks while striking out one in one inning of work.
