Atlanta, GA (My Sportsbook) - Tom Glavine's return to the mound at Turner Field for the first time in an opponent's uniform was a disaster. The New York Mets starter was hit around early by the Braves and was charged with the loss. The two-time Cy Young Award winner was rocked for eight hits, including two homers, and six runs. Andruw Jones and Javy Lopez both homered off Glavine, and Gary Sheffield and Robert Fick added home runs off reliever Jaime Cerda to lead Atlanta to a 10-4 victory. Glavine left the game with one out in the fourth inning and the Mets down, 5-0. Glavine (5-4) walked two and did not register a strikeout. Glavine spent his first 16 seasons in a Braves uniform, posting a 242-143 record. He helped the Braves win 11 straight division titles and was also named MVP of the 1995 World Series when Atlanta beat the Cleveland Indians. During this past offseason, the free-agent Glavine became involved in a bidding war between a few clubs and eventually landed in New York after inking a three-year deal worth $35 million. The game drew a crowd of 40,912, the largest of the season at Turner Field. Reactions to Glavine were strong. When he walked to the bullpen before the game, he was greeted with a loud chorus of boos. When he took the mound in the first inning, the boos were drowned out by a brief standing ovation. The ovation was friendlier when he walked to the dugout after being replaced by Cerda in the fourth.
