The Yankees will send 26-year-old Jeff Weaver to the mound this afternoon. The righthander allowed five runs on seven hits in just five innings against the Red Sox at Fenway Park in his last outing. Weaver did not record the decision. Weaver's last victory came on the 15th of May when he was victorious against the Angels at Yankee Stadium. In that contest, Weaver tossed 6 2/3 innings while allowing three runs on eight hits. In 11 career starts against the Blue Jays, Weaver is 4-6 with an ERA of 5.38. On Saturday, Alfonso Soriano went 3-for-4 with a homer for the Yankees, who have lost six straight home games and 10 of their last 11 in the Bronx. New York has dropped 10 of its last 13 overall to fall 1 1/2 games behind first- place Boston in the AL East. David Wells (6-2) was tagged for five runs on nine hits over five innings in the loss. He left the game after the first five batters reached in the sixth.
