=== St. Louis Cardinals Team Report - May 25 === (My Sportsbook) - The St. Louis Cardinals attempt to complete a three-game sweep of the Pittsburgh Pirates on Sunday when the teams meet in the finale of their set at PNC Park. On Saturday, Matt Morris tossed his second consecutive shutout while Jim Edmonds homered and scored twice as the Cardinals blanked the Pirates, 6-0. Morris (6-3) allowed nine hits to go along with three strikeouts and two walks for the Cardinals, who won their second straight in this three-game series and have taken three of their last four contests overall. Eduardo Perez finished 3-for-5 with a run and an RBI and Fernando Vina hit his fourth home run of the season. The Cardinals give the ball to Garrett Stephenson on Sunday. The righthander has just one loss in his last five starts (2-1), but that setback came in his last outing. Stephenson allowed three runs on six hits in six innings against the Astros Tuesday. He walked four and struck out four in the loss. Stephenson has pitched well against the Pirates in his career, posting a 5-1 record with a 3.60 ERA over seven starts. |
