(My Sportsbook) - The Boston Red Sox try to finish their 12-game homestand with a sweep of the Cleveland Indians this afternoon.
The Red Sox, who are 7-4 so far on their homestand, begin a 12-game road trip after today's contest. Their four series will come against New York, Toronto, Pittsburgh and Milwaukee.
Casey Fossum heads to the rubber today hoping to help complete the sweep of the Indians. In his last outing, Fossum allowed five runs on six hits in six innings in a loss to the Yankees at Fenway Park.
Fossum's only other loss came on the 9th of April when five runs on three hits and three walks in just 4 2/3 innings against the Blue Jays at SkyDome.
The 25-year-old lefthander is 0-1 in three starts against the Indians, posting an ERA of 3.45.
On Saturday, Nomar Garciaparra, Manny Ramirez and David Ortiz each homered, leading the Boston Red Sox to a 12-3 rout of the Cleveland Indians at Fenway Park. The Red Sox have won the first two of this three-game series to maintain their hold on first place in the AL East.
Garciaparra was 3-for-5 with two runs batted in and three runs scored. He also extended his hitting streak to 24 games, tying the second-longest streak of his career. He hit in 24 straight in 1998 and had a 30-game streak in 1997.
Ramirez went 3-for-3 with two walks and two runs batted in, while Ortiz added three hits. Bill Mueller finished 3-for-5 with three runs scored and Kevin Millar drove in three runs in the victory.
John Burkett (3-2) has won two straight starts after going 0-2 in his previous seven. He went the first five innings, allowing two runs on two hits with a walk and two strikeouts.
