Corey Patterson tallied two hits, a run scored and an RBI for the Cubs, who kept the top spot in the NL Central with just their third win in eight games. Shawn Estes (5-3) captured his fourth straight decision after allowing two runs in six-plus innings. The lefthander also yielded seven hits and one walk, while striking out three. The Cubs give the ball to Carlos Zambrano on Sunday. The righthander is just 1-3 over his last five starts, dropping his overall record to 4-4. In his last outing, Zambrano was handed the loss despite allowing only one unearned run against St. Louis Monday. He surrendered five hits in seven frames, while walking three and striking out four. For his career, Zambrano is 1-2 with a 6.00 ERA in five appearances -- three starts -- versus Houston. |
