=== Atlanta Braves Team Report - May 26 === (My Sportsbook) - Marcus Giles launched a two-run homer to snap an eighth- inning tie, lifting the Atlanta Braves to a 3-1 victory over the New York Mets at Turner Field. Andruw Jones finished 2-for-3 with a solo homer and Rafael Furcal added a hit and a run scored for the Braves, who took the final two games of the three- game series and have a 17-6 record in May. Roberto Hernandez (4-1) blew a save for Greg Maddux, but earned the win thanks to Giles' heroics. He struck out one and gave up a run on two hits and no walks in his one inning of work. Maddux was trying to win for the first time since April 29. He gave up just three singles, striking out three and walking none in seven dominating innings. John Smoltz pitched a perfect ninth inning, including two strikeouts, for his league-leading 19th save of the year. Mike Hampton takes the hill for the Braves today, as they open up a three- game set against the Cincinnati Reds. Hampton is 2-2 with a 4.31 ERA in seven starts this season. In his last outing on Wednesday, Hampton was roughed up for six earned runs on five hits in just three and two-third innings of a 9-3 setback to the Reds. He walked five batters and struck out none in taking the loss. Hampton is 6-5 with a 3.92 ERA in 17 career starts against Cincinnati. The Braves have won the last 73 games that Smoltz has appeared in, dating back to June 3 of last season. Smoltz's 84th career save moved him past John Rocker into third place all-time for Atlanta.
