Denver, CO (My Sportsbook) - Future Hall of Fame goaltender Patrick Roy has decided to retire, according to a published report. The Boulder Daily Camera reported that Roy will hang up the skates after 18 seasons in the NHL, with an announcement coming as early as Tuesday. The 37-year-old Roy is the winningest goalie in NHL history. He is also a three-time Vezina and Conn Smythe trophy winner, and has compiled 551 regular- season wins to go along with 151 postseason victories. Roy played in 1,029 regular-season games over his career, and owns a goals- against average of 2.54. He also recorded 66 shutouts. In 247 playoff contests, Roy collected 23 shutouts. A four-time Stanley Cup winner, Roy was originally selected by the Montreal Canadiens in the third round (51st overall) of the 1984 NHL Entry Draft. He spent parts of 11 seasons with the Canadiens before being traded to Colorado along with Mike Keane for Jocelyn Thibault, Martin Rucinsky and Andrei Kovalenko in December 1995. Colorado lost in seven games to the Minnesota Wild in the first-round of the playoffs this year.
