East Rutherford, NJ (My Sportsbook) -
New York Giants rookie tight end Jeremy Shockey and cornerback Will Peterson each returned to practice on Wednesday after missing the team's last game because of toe injuries.
The Giants had a bye last week and haven't played since a 17-10 loss to the Atlanta Falcons on October 13. They will visit Philadelphia on Monday in an important NFC East matchup at Veterans Stadium.
Shockey and Peterson, who each aggravated their injuries on the new turf at Texas Stadium in an October 6 contest at Dallas, are both listed as questionable for this week's game. questionable for this week's game.
"Both of them looked fine," said Giants head coach Jim Fassel after practice Wednesday. "Both practiced the whole practice, they didn't have to come out and they weren't sore. I think they'll both be ready to go."
Shockey, the Giants' first-round pick out of Miami-Florida, leads all NFC rookie tight ends with 16 receptions for 209 yards.
"It's definitely getting better day-by-day," said Shockey. "It still hurts, but I'm just going to have to push through it."
Peterson leads the Giants with two interceptions this season.
"I've felt the best I've felt since the St. Louis game [September 15], foot- wise," Peterson said. "It was good to get out there at practice and we still have a few days before the game."
The Giants head into the contest with a record of 3-3, one full game behind first-place Philadelphia in the division.
Defensive end Kenny Holmes and guard Jason Whittle are also questionable for Monday's game. Holmes missed the Atlanta game because of an elbow injury and Whittle sat out the contest with back spasms.
"[Whittle's] getting better," Fassel said. "But we have to get him out on the field. Tomorrow is the start of our three hard work days. He needs to show more improvement before he's ready to play."
