Kansas City, MO (My Sportsbook) - Kansas City Royals starting pitcher Runelvys Hernandez was placed on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to May 17 with inflammation in his right elbow. Hernandez was scratched from his scheduled start last Tuesday against the Seattle Mariners with tendinitis in his right elbow. He is expected to be sent on a rehab assignment soon. The 25-year-old Hernandez was replaced by Darrell May in the Royals' rotation. Hernandez, Kansas City's Opening Day starter, won his first four decisions this season. He has struggled ever since and is currently in the midst of a personal three-game losing streak. He is 4-3 with a 2.79 ERA in nine starts this season. Kansas City recalled right-handed pitcher Brad Voyles from Triple-A Omaha to take Hernandez's roster spot.
