=== Boston Red Sox Team Report - May 28 === (My Sportsbook) - Bruce Chen was dealt the loss after giving up four runs and five hits in five innings of an 11-3 setback to the New York Yankees Tuesday. Chen (0-1) was making just his second start of the season in place of the injured Pedro Martinez, and surrendered three homers. Nomar Garciaparra went 0-for-4 with a strikeout on Tuesday, snapping his 26- game hitting streak. Boston still owns a 1 1/2 game lead over the Yankees in the American League East. Bill Mueller and David Ortiz each had a pair of hits and Kevin Millar added a homer in the loss. Taking the hill for the Red Sox tonight is Derek Lowe, who is 4-3 with a 5.27 ERA in 10 starts this season. In his last outing on Friday, Lowe went the distance, allowing just two runs and four hits in a 9-2 victory over the Cleveland Indians. He struck out five and walked three in picking up his first victory since April 19th. Lowe is just 4-7 with a 5.08 ERA in six career starts against the Yankees. |
