=== Tampa Bay Devil Rays Team Report - May 28 === (My Sportsbook) - Carlos Reyes making his first start since 1997 was roughed up for four runs and six hits over seven innings of a 4-2 setback to the Texas Rangers on Tuesday. In his first appearance in three seasons Reyes (0-1) struck out two and walked none. However, he did allow three homers. Marlon Anderson finished with two hits and Aubrey Huff homered for the Devil Rays, who have lost three straight and six of their last seven. Jeremi Gonzalez takes the hill for the Devil Rays tonight. He is an even 1-1 with a 2.08 ERA in two starts this season. In his last outing on Friday, Gonzalez allowed just one run and two hits in six innings of a 3-1 victory over the Anaheim Angels. He struck out and walked five in receiving his first win of the season. Gonzalez has never faced the Rangers in his major league career. Reyes is the 10th pitcher to start a game for Tampa Bay this season, one fewer than the Devil Rays used all of last year. Tampa Bay designated LHP John Rocker for assignment to clear a spot for Reyes on the 40-man roster. |
