Toronto, Ontario (My Sportsbook) - The red-hot
Toronto Blue Jays look to extend their season-high winning streak to seven games on Wednesday when they take on the
Chicago White Sox in the third of a four-game set at SkyDome.
The Blue Jays have won 10 of their last 12 games overall to now sit five games over .500 for the first time since May 10, 2001. The recent surge has pulled them within three games of first-place Boston in the AL East.
Toronto is 19-6 during the month of May, which ties the franchise record in wins. The Blue Jays went 19-6 in 1984, but they have four chances to break that mark.
On Tuesday, Roy Halladay pitched a complete game and won his sixth straight start and Carlos Delgado finished 3-for-3 with two runs scored, leading Toronto past the White Sox, 5-1.
The scorching Halladay (6-2) won his first-ever game against the White Sox in six appearances, giving up just one run on seven hits and a walk while striking out seven. Halladay has given up two earned runs or less in his last four games and has tossed at least seven innings in his last six contests.
Orlando Hudson had a 2-for-3 night with a run scored and an RBI, and Tom Wilson finished 1-for-2 with an RBI for the Blue Jays.
Bartolo Colon (5-4) had a three-game winning streak snapped in his return to the mound after serving a five-game suspension. He pitched his second straight complete game against the Jays, going eight innings. Colon surrendered five runs on nine hits, while striking out six and walking two.
Carlos Lee finished 3-for-4 with a double and Joe Borchard went 1-for-2 with a homer and a walk for the Sox, who have won just three times in their last 11 games.
Chicago gives the ball to Jon Garland on Wednesday. The righthander has dropped his last two decisions to fall to 2-4 on the season.
In his most recent outing, Garland failed to earn a decision against Detroit Friday, despite allowing just two runs on four hits in six innings. He walked three and struck out two.
Garland has had success in his career against Toronto, posting a 3-1 mark with a 2.70 ERA in six appearances -- four starts.
Countering for the Blue Jays on Wednesday is Kelvim Escobar, who makes his third start since moving from the bullpen to the rotation.
In his last outing, Escobar earned his first victory as a starter this season, as he defeated the Yankees on Friday. He permitted one run on three hits in five innings, while walking four and striking out four.
Escobar has struggled against the White Sox in his career, posting a 1-7 mark with a 9.00 ERA in 13 games -- five starts.
The Blue Jays have won three of the five meetings between these teams this season.
Chicago is 7-16 on the road this season, while the Blue Jays are 11-12 at home.
