St. Louis, MO (My Sportsbook) - Houston Astros pitcher Brian Moehler will have season-ending elbow surgery on Thursday. Moehler was diagnosed last week with a partial tear of the medial collateral ligament in his right elbow and sought a second opinion from noted sports surgeon Dr. James Andrews in Birmingham, Alabama. Andrews, who examined Moehler on Wednesday, will perform reconstructive surgery on Thursday. Moehler has been on the disabled list since April 17. He made just three starts this season, posting a 7.90 earned run average with no record. The 31-year-old righthander signed with Houston as a free agent this past January after spending last season with Detroit and Cincinnati.
