Cleveland, OH (My Sportsbook) - The Cleveland Indians placed pitcher Jason Bere on the 15-day disabled list Friday with inflammation in his right shoulder. Bere could miss the remainder of the season after an MRI revealed more fraying in his rotator cuff. He pitched just one frame in the Indians' 5-2 win on Tuesday against Detroit before exiting the contest with tightness in his shoulder. Bere, who is on the disabled list for the second time this year, may need more surgery and has a 4.05 ERA in two games this season. He has not figured in a decision. The 32-year-old Bere signed a one-year contract with the Indians in December after spending the previous two seasons with the Chicago Cubs. During an injury-plagued 2002 campaign with the Cubs, Bere went just 1-10 with a 5.67 ERA in 16 starts. Bere, who is playing in his 11th major league season, owns a career record of 71-65. The Indians recalled pitcher Brian Tallet from Triple-A Buffalo to replace Bere on the roster. Cleveland also activated pitcher Cliff Lee from the 60-day DL and sent him to Double-A Akron.
