=== Boston Red Sox Team Report - May 31 === (My Sportsbook) - The Boston Red Sox hope to halt a three-game slide when they play game two of a three-game series with the Toronto Blue Jays at SkyDome. The Red Sox currently are just one-half game behind the New York Yankees in the AL East, while the third-place Blue Jays are three games back. Boston was shocked yesterday as it lost 13-2 in the first game of the series against the Blue Jays. Damian Jackson and Bill Mueller each had two hits for the Red Sox, who have lost three in a row for the first time this season. Todd Walker extended his hitting streak to a career-high 15 games. John Burkett (3-3), who didn't come out for the third, absorbed the loss. In two innings, he was charged with eight runs and eight hits. Taking the hill for the Red Sox today will be Casey Fossum, who has lost his last two starts. In his last outing on Sunday against Cleveland, the lefthander gave up five runs on eight hits with two walks and four strikeouts in five innings. He is 1-1 in five career outings against the Blue Jays. The Red Sox have split the eight meetings against the Blue Jays this season, but have dropped three of four in Toronto. The Blue Jays have won six of their last seven at SkyDome over Boston. Boston is 1-3 on a 12-game road trip and 13-13 away from Fenway Park this season. The Red Sox lead the majors with a team batting average of .291.
