Anaheim, CA (My Sportsbook) - The New Jersey Devils and Mighty Ducks of Anaheim skated to a scoreless tie after 20 minutes of play in Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Finals at the Pond. All four games in the series have been scoreless in the opening period. Jean-Sebastien Giguere made 10 saves for Anaheim, while Martin Brodeur turned away seven shots for the Devils. Patrik Elias and Scott Gomez each had a shot on Giguere with the Devils on an early power play, but the netminder was equal both times. The extra-skater advantage was negated when Scott Niedermayer was whistled off with 39 seconds left on the penalty to Anaheim's Kurt Sauer. With the teams skating 4-on-4, Jamie Langenbrunner was alone in front for a chance after picking up a rebound on a shot by John Madden but Giguere stopped the shot from close range. Just after the power play ended, Brodeur smothered a shot from Keith Carney from along the left wing boards that was deflected in front. Elias went in alone on Giguere on a feed from Gomez, but fired the puck over the net with just under nine minutes left in the opening period. Petr Sykora and Rob Niedermayer tested Brodeur late in the stanza before the Devils went on a power play for a goaltender interference call. New Jersey had no shots and the Ducks actually had the best scoring opportunity, but failed to take advantage of a 2-on-1 break. Anaheim trails the best-of-seven series two-games-to-one. The Devils posted a pair of 3-0 wins in New Jersey, but the Ducks took Game 3 in overtime on home ice. The Devils are in the Finals for the third time in four years and are seeking their third Stanley Cup, while Anaheim is making its first appearance in the Finals.
