EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) -Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts made fewer mistakes than Eli Manning and the New York Giants in the first NFL game to feature two brothers starting at quarterback.

Big brother Peyton was 25-of-41 for 276 yards and a touchdown and the Colts scored on five of their first seven possessions to defeat Eli and the Giants 26-21 in the much-hyped nationally televised matchup of the sons of Archie Manning at Giants Stadium.

Adam Vinatieri, the hero of two Super Bowl wins by the New England Patriots, kicked four field goals in his first game for Indy, including a 32-yarder with 1:12 to play to push the lead to five points.

---GAME 2Colts 43, Texans 24

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Peyton Manning and the Colts played a near-perfect game. The Texans and David Carr looked like, well, their old selves.

Manning threw three touchdown passes, broke one of John Unitas' franchise records, and the Colts scored on six of their first seven possessions.

For Indy - 9-0 all-time against the Texans - it was another milestone day.

Manning broke Unitas' franchise record for completions, Marvin Harrison moved into fifth place on the NFL's receptions list and Tony Dungy earned his 50th regular-season win as Colts coach.

Manning's second TD pass, a 21-yarder to rookie Joseph Addai, gave him 2,797 completions - one more than Unitas had in his Colts career. Manning finished 26-of-38 for 400 yards, and had a 129.3 rating despite having one TD pass called back because of a holding penalty on Tarik Glenn.

---GAME 3Colts 21, Jaguars 14

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Jacksonville thought it could contain Indianapolis' high-scoring offense by playing keepaway. Good idea, but it didn't matter much to Peyton Manning.

Jacksonville held Manning to one touchdown pass, but Indianapolis found other ways to score - on Terrence Wilkins' punt return and a rare rushing TD by the Colts quarterback - to maintain their dominance in the AFC South.

The three-time defending division champs beat the Jags for the fourth time in five tries and has won 10 straight division games.

---GAME 4Colts 31, Jets 28

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) - Justin Miller's 103-yard kickoff return was the quick score the Jets needed. Only problem: It left Peyton Manning with one last chance and plenty of time.

After Miller's dash gave New York the lead with 2:20 left, Manning led Indianapolis on the winning drive, capping it with a 1-yard run that gave the Colts a wild victory.

Manning was 6-of-8 for 60 yards on the drive, including a 19-yard pass to Marvin Harrison and a 15-yarder to Reggie Wayne that put the ball at the 1. Running the no-huddle offense, Manning then took the ball and pushed himself into the end zone.

With 8 seconds left, the Jets got off one last, desperate circus play, a never-ending lateral-fest that almost worked.

Manning finished 21-of-30 for 217 yards and a touchdown.

---GAME 5Colts 14, Titans 13

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Peyton Manning led the Colts on a late scoring drive for the second straight week, hooking up with Reggie Wayne for a 2-yard touchdown pass with 5:10 left and giving Indianapolis a come-from-behind victory.

For 3 1/2 quarters, it appeared the winless Titans might pull off one of the most shocking upsets in the NFL this season. But Manning was masterful in the second half. He finished 20-of-31 for 166 yards with two touchdowns - both in the second half - and one interception. It was enough to keep the Colts unbeaten at 5-0.

Marvin Harrison caught a 13-yard TD pass to break Marshall Faulk's NFL record for most consecutive games (159) with a reception at the start of the career.

Indy won its 12th straight over an AFC South foe and completed a sweep of its home games against a divisional rival.

The Titans have lost seven straight in the series.

---GAME 6Colts 36, Redskins 22

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Washington knocked Peyton Manning around for a half. Then Manning knocked out the Redskins.

After being bent over awkwardly twice in the first half and once appearing hurt, the two-time MVP responded with three third-quarter touchdown passes to lead Indianapolis to victory.

Indy remained the AFC's only unbeaten team and became the ninth team in league history to start 6-0 in back-to-back seasons.

Manning finished 25-of-35 with four touchdowns and continued climbing the NFL's career charts. His last TD pass, No. 256, sent him past Dan Fouts (254) and Sonny Jurgensen (255) into 10th in NFL history. He also passed Jim Hart for 14th on the career-yardage list with a 342-yard day, giving him 34,809 career yards. Hart has 34,665.

Marvin Harrison followed suit. He had seven catches for 73 yards and two touchdowns, moving past Irving Fryar and into eighth on the league's career-yardage list. He also tied Lenny Moore's franchise record for TDs (113). Harrison has 12,846 yards receiving; Fryar had 12,785.

---GAME 7Colts 34, Broncos 31

DENVER (AP) - Peyton Manning and Reggie Wayne picked, poked and plowed their way through a Denver defense that was designed specifically to stop them.

Manning passed for 345 yards and three touchdowns - all to Wayne - and Adam Vinatieri kicked a 37-yard field goal with 2 seconds left to lift the Indianapolis Colts to a 34-31 victory over the baffled Broncos.

Wayne finished with 10 catches for 138 yards and did most of his damage against defensive back Darrent Williams.

Indianapolis gained 437 yards to become the first team to start 7-0 in consecutive seasons since the 1929-31 Green Bay Packers did it three straight times.

Manning went 32-for-39 for 345 yards with a passer rating of 129.2.

---GAME 8Colts 27, Patriots 20

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) - Peyton Manning got help from an unlikely source - his defense - and the Colts remained the NFL's only unbeaten team.

The Patriots also were victimized for the first time by Adam Vinatieri as Indianapolis won 27-20. With his once adoring fans booing, he kicked two field goals in his first game against New England since leaving as a free agent.

But he also missed twice in the second half.

A steady Manning threw for 326 yards and two touchdowns, while the Colts intercepted Tom Brady four times and allowed no touchdown passes, only two scoring runs by Corey Dillon and two field goals by rookie Stephen Gostkowski.

The Colts became the only team to start consecutive seasons at 8-0 since the Green Bay Packers did it three straight years from 1929-31.

---GAME 9Colts 17, Bills 16

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - The Bills slowed down Indianapolis' fast-track offense, but not enough to stop the NFL's last unbeaten team from making NFL history.

A restrained Peyton Manning repeatedly threw the ball underneath, used his ground game effectively and delivered a time-consuming final drive as the Colts became the first team ever with back-to-back 9-0 starts.

Manning was masterful when he needed to be on a day the Bills simply refused to let the Colts play their game.

Manning finished 27-of-39 for 236 yards with one touchdown, a 1-yarder to Reggie Wayne in the first half. Dominic Rhodes and Joseph Addai combined to rush 27 times for 150 yards.

---GAME 10Cowboys 21, Colts 14

IRVING, Texas (AP) - The Indianapolis Colts are perfect no more.

Tony Romo managed an efficient game in his first career start at home, Marion Barber III ran for two fourth-quarter touchdowns and the Cowboys handed Peyton Manning and the Colts their first loss of the season.

A week after becoming the first team to start 9-0 in consecutive seasons, Indianapolis fell shy in its bid to match last year's 13-0 run, much less the perfect season by the 1972 Miami Dolphins.

The Colts had escaped close calls all season, but couldn't overcome four turnovers, their most in a regular season game since Nov. 25, 2001.

---GAME 11Colts 45, Eagles 21

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Joseph Addai tied a franchise record with four touchdowns.

Addai opened the game by sandwiching a 10-yard score around two 15-yard runs to give Indy a 21-0 lead and added a late 4-yard run. The rookie running back finished with 171 yards.

Lenny Moore, Lydell Mitchell and Eric Dickerson are the only other Colts players with four TDs in one game.

---GAME 12Titans 20, Colts 17

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Tennessee has tapped into a major vein of comeback magic.

Rob Bironas kicked a 60-yard field goal - the franchise's longest ever - with 7 seconds left, and the Titans beat the Colts for the first time since December 2002 and posted their second straight amazing comeback.

The team that tied for the NFL's second-biggest comeback in the final 10 minutes last week against the New York Giants struck again against the Colts (10-2), who had lost only four of their previous 36 games.

The Titans were down 14-0 in the first half before starting this comeback just before halftime. They intercepted Peyton Manning twice, and Vince Young threw for two touchdowns and used his legs to help keep the ball away from the two-time NFL MVP.

---GAME 13Jaguars 44, Colts 17

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) - There was nothing Peyton Manning could do to prevent this outcome - unless he decided to play defense or special teams.

Rookie Maurice Drew ran for a career-high 166 yards and two touchdowns, had a 93-yard kickoff return for a score, and the Jaguars literally ran the Colts out of town.

Fred Taylor was equally effective against the league's worst run defense, gaining 131 yards on nine carries before leaving with a sore right hamstring.

The Colts allowed a franchise record 375 yards rushing. Indy's Marvin Harrison became the fourth player in NFL history with 1,000 receptions Sunday, joining Jerry Rice, Tim Brown and Cris Carter. Harrison had six catches for 101 yards.

Manning finished 25-of-50 for 313 yards.

---GAME 14Colts 34, Bengals 16

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Manning to Harrison is the surest way to get the Indianapolis Colts out of a funk.

The most prolific passing duo in NFL history tore apart the Cincinnati Bengals, combining for three touchdowns in a 34-16 victory. Even the Colts' maligned defense woke up after Indy dropped three of its last four games and yielded an incomprehensible 375 yards rushing a week ago to Jacksonville.

But it was vintage Peyton Manning throwing to his favorite target, Marvin Harrison, that dominated what was expected to be a shootout. Manning, 5-0 against Cincinnati, had one of the sharpest outings of his brilliant career, although he never looked deep because the Bengals couldn't cover anyone on quick-hitting routes. He was 29-for-36 for 282 yards, a 136.3 rating, and his 15th career four-touchdown outing.

In addition to bringing his total TD throws to Harrison to 103, he found Reggie Wayne on an 18-yarder and passed Vinny Testaverde for eighth place with 270 career touchdown passes.

And the Colts came alive defensively, never letting the Bengals' fourth-ranked passing attack to hit stride. Dwight Freeney led the defense with three sacks and Carson Palmer was a pedestrian 14-for-28 for 176 yards.

---GAME 15Texans 27, Colts 24

HOUSTON (AP) - Ron Dayne had a career-high 153 yards rushing and two touchdowns, and Kris Brown kicked the winning 48-yard field goal as time expired, giving Houston its first win over Indianapolis.

The Texans used Dayne and rookie Chris Taylor to eat up the clock and exploit the Colts' suspect run defense, ranked last in the NFL, and broke a nine-game losing streak to Indianapolis.

Houston led through most of the game, until Peyton Manning and Marvin Harrison connected for their second touchdown, this one a 7-yard pass that tied it 24-24 with 2:41 remaining.

David Carr and the Texans then engineered a six-play, 31-yard drive that ended with Brown's winning kick. Carr was 16-of-23 for 163 yards and a touchdown.

The loss ruined another record day for Manning, who set an NFL mark by reaching 4,000 yards passing for the seventh time in his nine-year career. He was 21-of-27 for 205 yards and had three touchdown passes.

---GAME 16Colts 27, Dolphins 22

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Peyton Manning threw two touchdowns, ran for another and watched his maligned defense limit Miami to five field goals before giving up a late touchdown.

The Colts completed their first perfect season at home since 1958, when the Baltimore Colts won the NFL championship.

Miami, which was 5-0 against Manning in Indianapolis, closed the season with three straight losses.

Against a depleted Miami secondary, Manning was his usually efficient self. He completed 22-of-37 for 282 yards. His first touchdown pass, the 274th of his career, was a 2-yarder to defensive tackle Dan Klecko. That broke a tie with Joe Montana for seventh on the career TD list.

---WILD-CARD PLAYOFFColts 23, Chiefs 8

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts kept their playoff persona alive, looking shaky and sloppy at times.

While Manning's numbers were good, his performance was mediocre. Fortunately for the Colts, their beleaguered defense bailed them out with a strong effort in a 23-8 victory over the inept Kansas City Chiefs.

For most of the day, the Indianapolis defense was so good - or perhaps more accurately, Kansas City's offense was so bad - that Manning's miscues didn't stop the AFC South champions from advancing. While Manning was throwing three interceptions and looking tentative, the Chiefs' Larry Johnson and Trent Green were simply awful for more than 40 minutes.

Kansas City's initial first down came with 3:34 remaining in the third quarter.

Meanwhile, Adam Viniatieri made three field goals and rookie Joseph Addai rushed for 122 yards and a TD for the Colts. Wisely, with Manning unable to throw deep, Indianapolis gave Kansas City a steady dose of short passes that wore out the Chiefs.

---DIVISIONAL PLAYOFFColts 15, Ravens 6

BALTIMORE (AP) - Adam Vinatieri and the resurgent Indianapolis defense helped the Colts heap another dose of misery upon Baltimore.

Signed during the offseason specifically for his playoff experience, Vinatieri kicked five field goals to put his name in the NFL record book and carry Indianapolis past the Baltimore Ravens 15-6 and into the AFC championship game.

Although unspectacular, Colts quarterback Peyton Manning was efficient enough to make up for some of his previous playoff failures.

Indianapolis never trailed in eliminating the No. 2-seeded Ravens, who were coming off a first-round bye and poised to extract a measure of revenge against the franchise that broke the hearts of Baltimore fans by sneaking out of the city to Indianapolis in March 1984.

Vinatieri justified the acquisition with a flawless performance. He connected on field goal tries of 23, 42, 51, 48 and 35 yards; the fourth kick gave him set an NFL-record 33 career postseason field goals.

That was enough support for a defense that during the regular season finished last against the run. The Colts did not allow a touchdown, held Jamal Lewis to 53 yards rushing also forced four turnovers - intercepting Steve McNair twice and recovering two fumbles.

---AFC CHAMPIONSHIPColts 38, Patriots 34

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Peyton Manning, football's most prolific quarterback, put on a show for the ages, rallying the Indianapolis Colts from 18 points down and driving them 80 yards for the winning score in a wildly entertaining 38-34 victory over the New England Patriots.

In his nine years in the league, Manning has never played in a game like this AFC championship contest. He threw for 349 yards and one touchdown and brought his team back from a 21-3 deficit.

Joseph Addai capped Manning's late drive with the winning score, a 3-yard run with 1 minute left to help the Colts complete the rally and send coach Tony Dungy to his first Super Bowl - and a very special one.

Dungy and the Colts will face the Chicago Bears and his good friend Lovie Smith in Miami in two weeks. Together they are the first black coaches to make the Super Bowl in its 41 years.
