SAN DIEGO (AP) -The Chargers promoted Clarence Shelmon from running backs coach to offensive coordinator on Friday. He replaces Cam Cameron, who was hired as Miami's head coach a week earlier. Terms of the contract weren't available. Shelmon said he couldn't comment because coach Marty Schottenheimer bars his assistants from speaking with the media. Neither Schottenheimer nor Shelmon's agent immediately returned calls seeking comment. Shelmon has been the Chargers running backs coach for the last five seasons. He also held the same position with the Dallas Cowboys, Seattle Seahawks and Los Angeles Rams. Copyright © 2005 The Associated Press. All rights reserved.
