Boston, MA (My Sportsbook) - The St. Louis Cardinals activated closer Jason Isringhausen and catcher Joe Girardi from the 15-day disabled list on Tuesday. Both players had been on the DL since spring training. Isringhausen underwent surgery on his right shoulder in the offseason after a small tear was revealed in the labrum. The 30-year-old Isringhausen went 3-2 last season with a 2.48 ERA and 32 saves for the NL Central Division champion Cardinals. However, he had trouble pitching on consecutive days down the stretch because of discomfort in the shoulder. Girardi sustained a herniated disc in his neck during spring training and has been sidelined since. The 38-year-old hit .226 with one homer and 13 RBI in 90 games with the Cubs last season. St. Louis also placed reserve catcher Chris Widger on the 15-day DL, while sending outfielder So Taguchi to Triple-A Memphis. Widger is hitting .105 in nine games, while Taguchi had one hit in three at-bats.
