(My Sportsbook) If the
Florida Marlins saw the
Milwaukee Brewers on their schedule everyday they would have no complaints. They have beat the Brewers four consecutive times this season, including a 12-4 romp on Tuesday.
"We play them nine times," Marlins manager Jack McKeon told the Miami Herald, adding that a 4-0 start means nothing. "You would love to be 9-0, but that's asking a lot."
The Marlins have won a franchise-record six straight games against the Brewers, dating back to August 3, 2002.
On Tuesday, Derrek Lee led the Marlins with a pair of home runs and three runs batted in. He was in a 1-for-16 slump and hadn't homered since May 25th until his homer in the first inning.
Mark Redman also pitched his best game since being activated from the disabled list, allowing just one unearned run in eight innings. He has now won both his outings this season against the Brewers.
"I guess it's confidence. I had that complete game against them and a high strikeout [11] game, and that carried over to this game," Redman told the Miami-Herald about his success against the Brewers.
Redman threw a complete-game four-hitter against Milwaukee on April 24.
The Marlins have winning records against only two other teams, excluding the Brewers. They have taken two-of-three from the San Diego Padres and four-of- six against the Cincinnati Reds.
ROAD WARRIORS
The win on Tuesday was Florida's fourth consecutive road victory and the first on a six game road trip. However, Florida is still just 12-19 overall on the road. This is Florida's longest winning streak on the road since August ,2000 when the Marlins also capture four straight. Florida's longest road winning streak in franchise history is eight games, set July 16 to August 5, 1995. The Marlins are hitting .333 (51-for-153) in their last four road games.
WHO'S HOT
Mike Lowell is 11-for-28 with eight RBI over his last seven games.
Redman is 3-0 in his last five starts and in that time has lowered his ERA to 2.83.
WHOS NOT
Juan Encarnacion is just 3-for-23 over his last six games.
Luis Castillo is mired in a 4-for-21 slump, including no extra base hits in has last six contests.
COMING UP
After the Marlins finish a three-game set against the Brewers, they will head to Texas for a three-game series against the Rangers. Ivan Rodriguez will return to Arlington, where he played his first 12 major league seasons.
