=== Cardinals sign first-round pick === St. Louis, MO (My Sportsbook) - The St. Louis Cardinals have agreed to terms with catcher Daric Barton, who was their top pick in this year's draft. The lefthanded-hitting Barton, who attended Marina High School in Huntington Beach, California, was selected with the 28th overall pick by the Cardinals. The 17-year-old had originally planned to attend Cal State Fullerton, but now will be assigned to Johnson City of the Appalachian League. The 5-foot-11, 195-pound Barton was the first catcher selected by St. Louis in the opening round since it picked Terry Kennedy in 1977. |
