Cleveland, OH (My Sportsbook) - Cleveland Indians All-Star shortstop Omar Vizquel was placed on the 15-day disabled list after he successfully underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right knee Thursday. The operation was performed by Dr. Louis Keppler at Lutheran Hospital and is expected to keep Vizquel sidelined for 3-to-6 weeks. Vizquel, who will go on the disabled list for the fourth time in his career, tore cartilage in his knee last Friday while sliding into home plate in a game against Arizona. The Indians won the contest, 6-3, but manager Eric Wedge was unhappy with the dirt around the plate at Bank One Ballpark. Wedge claimed that the dirt was too soft and contributed to the injury. The 36-year-old Vizquel is batting .255 with two home runs and 40 runs scored in 59 games this season. Cleveland recalled infielder John Peralta from Triple-A Buffalo to take Vizquel's spot on the active roster.
