Anaheim, CA (My Sportsbook) - New York Mets relief pitcher Mike Stanton was placed on the 15-day disabled list Friday, just days after being sent back to New York to have his injured left knee examined. The left-handed reliever underwent arthroscopic surgery to repair some torn meniscus in the knee on Friday. He is expected to miss three-to-six weeks. Stanton, who just recently returned from the DL with inflammation of the lining of his left knee, aggravated the injury while pitching in Tuesday's loss to the Texas Rangers. He faced two batters and struggled finding the plate. The southpaw is 2-3 with a 4.71 earned run average this season. In 21 innings, he has allowed 19 hits and 11 earned runs. The Mets purchased the contract of pitcher Jason Roach from Triple-A Norfolk to take Stanton's place on the active roster. New York also moved pitcher Pedro Astacio from the 15-day to the 60-day disabled list to make room for Roach on the 40-man roster. Astacio underwent season-ending surgery on his shoulder on Wednesday.
