Texas Rangers Team Report - June 15 ===
(My Sportsbook) - The Rangers snapped a three-game losing streak last night and will face the Florida Marlins tonight in the rubber match of a three-game set at Arlington. A victory tonight would give the Rangers their first series win since sweeping Tampa Bay, May 20-22 at the Ballpark.
The Rangers, who have lost 12 of their last 14 games, will send John Thomson to the mound this evening. The righthander snapped his own three-game losing streak with a victory against the Mets on Tuesday in his last outing. In that contest, the 29-year-old allowed three runs on six hits in six innings of work.
The victory was Thomson's first since pitching a complete game gem against the Yankees at Yankee Stadium on May 18th. In that contest, Thomson allowed one run, while scattering three hits and striking out nine Yankee batters. Thomson is 3-2 with a 4.00 ERA in 10 career starts against the Marlins.
Last night, Juan Gonzalez went 4-for-4 with four runs scored and a pair of runs batted in, as the Rangers pounded the Marlins, 13-2.
Mark Teixeira finished 3-for-4 with a homer, four runs scored and three runs batted in, and Kevin Mench added a three-run blast for the Rangers. Rafael Palmeiro and Michael Young both added a run scored and an RBI in the victory.
Ismael Valdes earned the win for Texas and improved to 4-0 over his last six starts. Valdes (6-2) tossed six innings and allowed two runs on six hits with a pair of strikeouts and a walk.
Texas' Alex Rodriguez is just 5-for-23 with five strikeouts in his last seven games.
Rangers second baseman Michael Young is 11-for-20 with one home runs and three RBI during his five-game hitting streak.
Texas is just 16-17 at home this season.
