St. Louis, MO (My Sportsbook) - St. Louis Cardinals closer Jason Isringhausen underwent surgery on his right shoulder Thursday. According to team doctor George Paletta, the operation was a "cleanup" of the shoulder. During the procedure, a small tear was revealed in the labrum, but the rotator cuff appeared to be okay. Isringhausen went 3-2 this season with a 2.48 ERA and 32 saves for the NL Central Division champions. However, he had trouble pitching on consecutive days down the stretch because of discomfort in the shoulder. Isringhausen was also sidelined twice during the second half of the year. He is expected to wear a sling for two-to-four weeks and may be forced to pitch on a limited basis early next season.
