St. Louis, MO (My Sportsbook) - The St. Louis Blues and goaltender Tom Barrasso reached a tentative contract agreement on Thursday. As per team policy, terms have not been released. The team is expected to make a formal announcement within the next couple of days. The Blues are looking for help between the pipes since the team has been plagued by injuries at the start of the season. Starting goaltender Brent Johnson suffered an ankle injury during the preseason that forced him to open the season on the injured list. Fred Brathwaite then moved into the starting slot and Reinhard Divis made the club as the backup. Brathwaite started the Blues' first two games but injured his groin, forcing Divis into the starting role. Divis won his first game, but injured his groin in his next outing, leaving rookie Curtis Sanford as the starter and Cody Rudkowsky as the backup. The 37-year-old Barrasso started his career with the Buffalo Sabres and won the Calder Trophy as rookie of the year and the Vezina Trophy as top goalie in 1984. The 18-year pro was traded to Pittsburgh in 1988 and won the Stanley Cup with the Penguins in 1991 and 1992. Meanwhile, the Blues also announced they have reached a tentative agreement with free-agent forward Martin Rucinsky, who has been in his native Czech Republic practicing with his former team, Litvinov. In 674 career NHL games, Rucinsky has 178 goals and 255 assists.
