New York, NY (My Sportsbook) - Cincinnati Reds infielder Aaron Boone has been named the National League Player of the Week for the period of June 9-15, garnering the honor for the second time this season. Boone led the majors with a .556 batting average, ending the week on a 10- for-18 run, with an .833 slugging percentage and a .600 on-base percentage. He notched a homer, two doubles, seven RBI and three runs scored. He recorded a season-high four RBI while going 3-for-3 in a 15-1 thrashing of the Philadelphia Phillies on June 3rd. Other candidates for the award were Florida's Derrek Lee, Mike Lowell, and Mark Redman; the Cardinals' Edgar Renteria; the Dodgers' Eric Gagne and Hideo Nomo; San Diego's Mark Loretta; Barry Bonds of the Giants; Colorado's Jason Jennings; Jeromy Burnitz of the Mets; and Pittsburgh's Matt Stairs. Boone previously won the award for the week of May 5-11.
