Clement has captured his past three starts after dropping his previous five decisions to improve to 5-6 on the year. In his last outing, Clement earned the win against Cincinnati on Monday, as he allowed three runs on nine hits in six frames. He also walked one and struck out nine. Clement is undefeated against the White Sox in his career, going 2-0 with a 3.00 ERA in two starts. In the opener of this three-game interleague series on Friday, Miguel Olivo belted a grand slam and Aaron Rowand knocked in three runs, as the White Sox crushed the Cubs, 12-3. Cubs starter Shawn Estes (6-6) was touched for all six first-inning runs on his way to the loss. Estes worked just that one frame, surrendering two hits and four walks. Alex Gonzalez homered for the Cubs, who have dropped six of their last nine since a four-game winning streak earlier this month. The teams have split 16 games at Wrigley Field since the inception of interleague play, but the White Sox lead the all-time series, 17-14. |
