Toronto Blue Jays Team Report - June 23 ===
(My Sportsbook) - Roy Halladay tossed eight-plus strong innings to win his 11th straight start, as the Toronto Blue Jays downed the Montreal Expos, 4-2, in the finale of a three-game series at Olympic Stadium Sunday.
Halladay (11-2) allowed two unearned runs on three hits for Toronto, which took two of three in the series and won for the fifth time in six games. The righthander also struck out six and did not issue a walk.
Only two pitchers since 1990 have won 11 or more consecutive starts. Atlanta's John Smoltz won 11 in a row in 1996 and Minnesota's Brad Radke was victorious in 12 consecutive starts in 1997.
Cliff Politte came in during the ninth and notched his 11th save of the campaign.
Vernon Wells and Mike Bordick homered for the Blue Jays, who took over second place in the AL East and trail the first-place Yankees by two games. Reed Johnson added three hits and a run scored.
Wells has five homers in his last four games and has hit safely in a career- high 14 straight contests.
Taking the hill for Toronto on Monday is Doug Davis, as the Blue Jays open a four-game series with the Baltimore Orioles at SkyDome.
Davis, who will be pitching on eight days' rest, is winless in his last three outings (0-1), with his most recent victory coming on May 30 against Boston.
In his last start, Davis suffered the loss against the Cubs on June 14. He surrendered four runs on six hits in six innings, while walking three and striking out five.
Davis has no record in three career appearances -- two starts -- against the Orioles with a 1.80 ERA.
