The Indians had lost each of the first two games of the series in 15 innings. Brandon Phillips had two hits and scored twice for Cleveland, which won for the fourth time in six tries. Milton Bradley and Matt Lawton each knocked in a pair of runs in the win. Bradley has reached base safely in 26 straight games and 57 of 58 contests he has played this season. C.C. Sabathia (7-3) tossed six solid innings to win his third straight start. He gave up seven hits and three runs to capture his seventh win in eight decisions. Danys Baez worked a scoreless ninth to record his 16th save of the season. Jason Davis gets the call on Tuesday, as the Indians open a three-game series with the Kansas City Royals at Kauffman Stadium. The young righthander is 4-1 over his past seven outings and is coming off his first career complete game. Davis went the distance against the Tigers on Wednesday, allowing only one run on seven hits for the victory. He walked none and struck out three. Davis faced the Royals in his first start of 2003 and suffered the loss after permitting five runs in seven innings. He is 1-1 with a 6.75 ERA in two career starts against KC.
