Edmonton, Alberta (My Sportsbook) - The
Dallas Stars try to extend their unbeaten streak to four games tonight when they visit the
Edmonton Oilers at Skyreach Centre.
Dave Tippett's squad is 2-0-1 in the last three games after a two-game skid. On Saturday night in Vancouver the Stars received two goals from Brenden Morrow during a 2:55 span of the third period to bust open a 1-1 game. Mike Modano added an insurance tally late in the final frame, and Jere Lehtinen scored in the second. Marty Turco, who returned to the net after yielding the spotlight to Ron Tugnutt for two tilts, made 27 saves for his third win of the young season.
Turco is 3-2-1 with a 1.65 goals-against average and .939 save-percentage in six appearances.
Sergei Zubov assisted on Morrow's first tally and extended his point and assist streak to five games. The Russian rearguard has contributed six helpers during the tear.
Dallas concludes a three-game Western Canadian road trip tonight, and will host Florida at AmericanAirlines Center on Wednesday.
The Oilers, meanwhile, play the third installment of a four-game homestand tonight, and hope to win their second straight after snapping an 0-4-1 slide on Saturday. Edmonton toppled the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, 4-3, as Craig MacTavish's crew stormed back from a 3-1 deficit with a three-spot in the third.
Eric Brewer, Jason Chimera and Brian Swanson potted goals in the final stanza, with Swanson's power-play marker at 17:23 proving to be the game-winner. Swanson recorded his first points of the campaign with a goal and two assists.
Goaltender Tommy Salo allowed three goals on five shots against the Ducks before yielding the crease to Jussi Markkanen after Edmonton fell behind 3-1 midway through the first period. Markkanen halted all 15 shots he faced the rest of the way to notch the decision.
The Oilers host Buffalo on Friday before embarking on a six-game road trip that begins next Sunday in Chicago.
Dallas defeated Edmonton, 3-0, at home on October 15, as Lehtinen led the way with a pair of goals. The Stars are 4-1-1 in the last six regular season meetings between the teams, and 12-2-3 in the last 17 overall.
Dallas is 4-2-2 in its last eight trips to Skyreach Centre.
