Houston, TX (My Sportsbook) - The
Houston Texans have announced that linebacker Kailee Wong will not return for the 2007 season.
The nine-year veteran said he is not retiring, but gave no word as to why he won't be back.
"The deal that was presented to me from the Texans was more than fair," Wong said. "They've always treated me more than fair, which is all you can ask for in this business. I currently don't have plans to pursue other employment, but I'm postponing any final decision for later.
"Ultimately, I love this team. My decision has nothing to do with the organization. It truly is a personal decision."
Wong was one of the original Texans, signing as a free agent before the 2002 season. He is the franchise's all-time sacks leader with 15 and ranks fourth in club history with 327 tackles.
"I've had a good experience here in Houston," Wong added. "I'm very fond of this place with its fans. I am very honored to be one of the few Texans that have been here since the beginning and been a part of the franchise. I believe that this is the classiest organization in the NFL."
With Wong's departure, there are now seven remaining Texans from the 2002 season -- kicker Kris Brown, cornerback DeMarcus Faggins, guards Fred Weary, Steve McKinney and Chester Pitts, safety Jason Simmons and punter Chad Stanley.
Wong, who played his first four years with the Minnesota Vikings, has 652 career tackles.
