St. Petersburg, FL (My Sportsbook) - The Tampa Bay Devil Rays designated left-handed reliever Mike Venafro for assignment on Thursday and recalled righthander Carlos Reyes from Triple-A Durham to fill his spot. Venafro, who spent spring training with Atlanta before being released, is 1-0 with a 4.74 ERA in 24 appearances with the Devil Rays this season. He signed with the team in late March. The 33-year-old Reyes, who was 0-2 in a stint with Tampa Bay earlier this season, went 2-0 with a 2.37 ERA in three starts for Durham. The move leaves Tampa Bay without a left-handed reliever in the bullpen. |
