New York, NY (My Sportsbook) - Brian Jordan of the Los Angeles Dodgers and Randy Johnson of the Arizona Diamondbacks were named National League Player and Pitcher of the Month, respectively, for September. Additionally, Montreal Expos outfielder Endy Chavez was named NL Rookie of the Month. Jordan hit .347 with 30 RBI for the Dodgers last month. He finished 34-for-98 with five homers and 10 runs. His 30 RBI tied Mike Marshall for the second highest monthly total in Los Angeles history. Johnson threw 41 innings in September, allowing just 24 hits and striking out 49. He completed three games, including one shutout, and finished the season 24-5 with a 2.32 ERA and 334 strikeouts. Barry Bonds, who hit .362 with six homers, was the Player of the Month runner- up. Russ Ortiz of the Giants, Greg Maddux of the Braves and Wade Miller of the Astros were also considered for Pitcher of the Month for September. Chavez batted .337 with 30 hits last month to earn Rookie of the Month honors. Chavez had a 16-game hitting streak during the month, which was the second longest by an Expos' rookie. San Diego's Sean Burroughs, who hit .377 with four RBI, was the runner-up for the Rookie of the Month award.
