Chicago, IL (My Sportsbook) - The U.S. Women's National Team kicks off its 2007 Women's World Cup campaign in just 62 days. On Wednesday, head coach Greg Ryan named 18 players to the squad that will travel to China.

Heading up the group is team captain Kristine Lilly, who will be playing in her record fifth World Cup. The 35-year-old Lilly is the only active member of the 1991 team that played in the first ever Women's World Cup.

Lilly has earned 327 caps for the United States and scored 123 goals. She also has played in every World Cup game for the U.S., appearing in all 24 matches, including 23 starts.

Keeper Briana Scurry will be making her fourth appearance in a World Cup, and 1999 World Cup veterans Kate Markgraf and Christie Rampone will be taking part in their third World Cup competition. Lilly, Scurry, Markgraf and Rampone will be the only players to have played in three World Cups on the roster. Meanwhile, 10 players will be making their World Cup debut, the largest number entering a World Cup that the team has had.

The goalkeeping situation will be handled by Hope Solo and Nicole Barnhart along with Scurry. Solo is expected to get the bulk of the playing time having played in 32 of the 42 games under Ryan. Barnhart will go into the competition as the third keeper with just three caps but has good size and a bright future.

The back line is made up of the youngest player on the roster, 21-year-old Stephanie Lopez, but is also tremendously experienced with Cat Whitehill (110 caps), Markgraf (159 caps) and Rampone (164 caps). Tina Ellertson rounds out the defense and has earned 22 caps, but also might be the fastest player on the U.S. squad.

Midfielders Shannon Boxx and Aly Wagner were named to their second World Cup team and will anchor a midfield that includes first-time World Cup players Carli Lloyd, Lori Chalupy, Leslie Osborne and Marci Jobson.

The forwards chosen for the squad each have a track record of success in big games, with Lilly and Abby Wambach having already enjoyed incredible success with the WNT, and younger players Lindsay Tarpley and Heather O'Reilly playing a big role in the 2002 U-19 team that captured the World Championship.

Lilly is second on the all-time goalscoring list behind Mia Hamm with 123 goals, while Wambach has tallied 74 goals in just 92 appearances, the best strike rate in team history.

Each of the 16 teams that are competing in the 2007 Women's World Cup will have 21 roster spots to fill, leaving Ryan with three available places still left.

"We'll probably name the last three players in the next couple of weeks," Ryan said. "We're just looking at what we need to round out the squad. We have some young players that we are still taking a look at and we want to make sure we make some very good decisions on these last three spots."

The Americans will enter the 2007 World Cup as favorites after a disappointing third-place finish in 2003.

The United States will open the competition on September 11 against North Korea, followed by a September 14 contest versus Sweden and the final group stage match coming September 18 against Nigeria.
