El Segundo, CA (My Sportsbook) - The Los Angeles Kings bought out the final year of right wing Steve Heinze's contract. The 33-year-old Heinze was scheduled to make $2.25 million next season as part of a $6 million contract that he signed two years ago. Heinze played in just 27 games for the Kings last season, scoring five goals and assisting on seven others. His time was limited due to a concussion suffered in December. In 2001-02 for Los Angeles, Heinze appeared in 73 contests and finished with 15 goals and 16 assists. Originally drafted by the Boston Bruins in the third round (60th overall) of the 1988 NHL Entry Draft, Heinze has also spent time with the Buffalo Sabres and Columbus Blue Jackets. In 1997-98, Heinze had his most productive season while playing for the Bruins. He participated in 61 games and reached career-highs in goals (26) and points (46).
