San Francisco, CA (My Sportsbook) - San Francisco Giants starting pitcher Kirk Rueter was activated from the 15-day disabled list to make Friday night's start against the San Diego Padres. He had been sidelined since July 9 with a strained left shoulder. Rueter was solid in his return to action, but did not factor in Friday's decision. He allowed just one run on two hits while striking out three and walking two over six innings. The Giants won Friday's game 5-2 on a game-ending, three-run homer by Pedro Feliz in the bottom of the ninth. The lefthander was forced to leave an 8-3 victory over St. Louis on July 8 with two outs in the second inning. He injured the shoulder while throwing a pitch to opposing starter Dan Haren. For the season, Rueter is 7-3 with a 4.30 ERA over 20 starts. The Giants made a number of other moves Friday. They also placed lefthander Chad Zerbe on the 15-day disabled list with a strained muscle on his left side. In addition, San Francisco optioned outfielder Tony Torcato to Triple-A Fresno and recalled right-handed pitcher Kevin Correia from Fresno. The Giants also traded righthander Brian Powell to the Philadelphia Phillies for a player to be named.
