Cleveland Indians Team Report - July 27 ===
(My Sportsbook) - The Cleveland Indians and the Minnesota Twins will meet today in the rubber match of their three-game set at Jacobs Field.
The Indians, who have won only two of their last 11 games, will send Jason Davis to the mound this afternoon. Davis is winless in his last four outings, posting a 0-2 record in those contests.
The righthander's last victory came back on June 29th against the Cincinnati Reds at the Jake. In that outing, Davis controlled the Reds for 7 2/3 innings, allowing only one run on five hits, while striking out seven batters. For his career, Davis is 0-1 with a 5.63 ERA against the Minnesota Twins.
Last night, Jody Gerut hit his first career grand slam during an eight-run second inning, helping the Tribe cruise to a 9-2 victory. Victor Martinez, Ryan Ludwick and Coco Crisp all had two hits, a run scored and a run batted in for the Indians. Gerut and Travis Hafner each stroked three hits in the win.
Billy Traber (5-5) had not pitched since July 13, but tossed 6 1/3 strong innings. He gave up just two runs -- one earned -- and six hits, while striking out six and walking none.
Crisp is batting .381 in his last 15 games. Gerut is 6-for-18, with two runs, two home runs and six RBI in his last four games.
These AL Central squads have met just six times this season, with Cleveland owning a 4-2 lead.
The Indians are 24-27 at home this season.
