El Segundo, CA (My Sportsbook) - The Los Angeles Kings Monday signed defensemen Brad Norton and Maxim Kuznetsov to one-year contracts. Financial terms were not released. The 28-year-old Norton played in 53 games for the Kings last season and recorded three goals, three assists and 97 penalty minutes. Norton was originally drafted by the Edmonton Oilers in the ninth round of the 1993 NHL Entry Draft and made his NHL debut with the Florida Panthers during the 2001-02 season. In 75 career NHL contests with the Kings and Panthers, he has six points and 142 penalty minutes. Kuznetsov, 26, appeared in just three games for the Kings last year and did not record a point. The 6-5, 230-pounder began the season with Detroit before being acquired by the Kings in March along with center Sean Avery, a first- round choice (Jeff Tambellini) in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft and a second-round choice in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft in exchange for defenseman Mathieu Schneider. Kuznetsov was chosen by the Red Wings in the first-round (26th overall) of the 1995 NHL Entry Draft. He has played in 120 career NHL games and has nine points and 117 penalty minutes.
