Minneapolis, MN (My Sportsbook) - The Minnesota Timberwolves signed free agent guard Fred Hoiberg on Monday. As per team policy, terms of the deal were not released. Hoiberg, 30, averaged 2.3 points and 2.2 rebounds in 12.4 minutes per game last season while playing with the Chicago Bulls. The eight-year veteran had spent the past four seasons in the Windy City after beginning his career with the Indiana Pacers. "We felt that we needed another veteran player who will be able to hit some shots, and Fred fits the bill," said Vice President of Basketball Operations Kevin McHale. The Iowa State product has career averages of 5.1 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 386 NBA games. He was drafted by the Indiana Pacers with the 52nd overall pick in the 1995 NBA Draft. The signing comes on the same day that the Timberwolves agreed to terms with veteran free-agent forward, Mark Madsen.
