Chicago, IL (My Sportsbook) - The San Francisco Giants purchased the contract of outfielder Jeffrey Hammonds from Fresno, the team's Triple-A affiliate on Wednesday. The Giants optioned pitcher Kevin Correia to the Pacific Coast League club to make room for Hammonds. San Francisco signed Hammonds to a minor league contract on July 1st. He was released by the Milwaukee Brewers earlier this season after appearing in just 10 games, batting only .158 with one homer and three runs batted in. The 32-year-old has also spent time with Baltimore, Cincinnati and Colorado during his career (868 games) and has a lifetime batting average of .274 with 104 homers and 406 RBI. Correia was brought up on July 25, and appeared in just one game for the Giants, allowing one run in 1 1/3 innings.
